Trends Perfect for Pregnancy: Monochrome

The third guest post in a Pregnancy Style Series by Alex O’Callaghan (Creator of MammaBelle – New Australian maternity clothing label due to launch in 2015)

I’m back on Mama Stylista’s blog for the third installment of my pregnancy style series. I created this style series to help you to look and feel stylish and honour your love of fashion throughout your pregnancy by incorporating the latest trends into your pregnancy wardrobe.

Today I am talking about a trend that is super chic, super versatile and super easy to wear. And one that is close to Mama Stylista’s heart… MONOCHROME!

Don’t forget to check out my first two trends, ‘the CROP’ and “the HIGH WAISTED SKIRT” .

I love the monochrome trend for three main reasons:

Reason #1: monochrome is super versatile. It can be dressed up or down and can be worn for ANY occasion no matter how casual or fancy.

Reason #2: monochrome is cross seasonal. It can be worn in warmer or cooler weather. Just team it with the right accessories or layers and you have your summer and winter wardrobe covered.

Reason #3: monochrome is timeless. It will never go out of fashion and is a closet classic that will remain in your wardrobe for years and years to come.

To demonstrate the many ways in which today’s trend can be worn, I have turned to “the queen of pregnancy monochrome” for some style inspo.

Hint: she is someone who has always stayed true to her personal style during pregnancy and totally nailed her bump style during all three of her pregnancies.

If you guessed Kourtney Kardashian then you are spot on!

How to wear maternity monochrome according to Kourtney K

Dress it up or down. Invest in a classic piece of clothing that is comfortable and has the ability to be mixed and matched with loads of other items. A white or black block colour dress is perfect for dressing up or down. Check out Kourtney’s ‘white dress 3 ways’ for some inspiration.

Wear it across the seasons. Monochrome is perfect for wearing during both summer and winter. If you choose the right piece all you need to do is add layers as the weather becomes cooler. I love how Kourtney has created cross seasonal looks using classic black and white stripes.

Go for a classic chic and timeless look. Monochrome is the epitome of classic chic that never goes out of style.
