MBFWA 2015 Fave: Watson x Watson

Watson x Watson DAYWALKER SS15 collection

My first show at MBFWA was  the Watson x Watson  DAYWALKER SS15 collection and what a fabulous way to kick-start an amazing week!

Sisters Somer and Liberty Watson were inspired by the girl who starts the dancing off on the dance floor , who doesn’t care what she looks like when she’s dancing. She’s happy to be different.  I’m pretty sure they had me in mind – that’s me all over!

“We were inspired by images of Studio 54 with women in day- like sundresses under blue nightclub light, looking so sensual in a really sunny way, at night,” said Somer . “Equally, we were inspired by the reverse – an evening look dressed down for day. We loved that unexpected appropriation.”

The DAYWALKER collection is about the look you pull together with heart rather than head. Each runway look was fresh, clean and fabulously styled by Jolyon Mason.

Models roamed the futuristic runway in navy modern suiting with draped Japanese Triacetate for evening, and a range of separates with details like top-stitching, quilting, and karate-style belting.

Other clothing highlights were an engineered patchwork  influenced by old English China patterns and Dutch blue prints mixed in with multiple tones of denim, rope and lurex lace.

The Watson x Watson silhouette was mostly high-waisted and fitted which suits me perfectly! Colours included rich blood-red, multiple textures of black, a range of fresh blues paired back with summer crisp whites.

Jewellery playing a key role in the look of the show, Watson x Watson partnered with Fiel Sol to develop a range of dramatic and modern crystal earrings and cuffs that complimented the collection perfectly.

Definitely a knock out of a show and one of my highlights of the week!
