Pregnancy Must Have: The Maxi Dress

The first guest post in a Pregnancy Style Series by Alex O’Callaghan (Creator of MammaBelle – New Australian maternity clothing label due to launch soon)

Yay, you’re having a baby!

If you’re a fashion lover at heart then I bet one of the first things you did when you found out you were pregnant (apart from crying tears of joy, doing a victory dance and checking the test result over and over just to make sure) was to start thinking about your pregnancy wardrobe. Did someone say guilt free shopping spree!

There are a few items that I believe every pregnancy wardrobe must have. Must have pieces should be pieces that you LOVE to wear. They should be versatile, cross-seasonal and easy to style so that you get loads of wear out of them. Consider them your pregnancy wardrobe investment pieces.

The first must have in this pregnancy style series is the MAXI DRESS.

The right maxi dress can be worn for any occasion, from a high glam evening event to a casual and carefree daytime date. Just team it with the perfect shoes and accessories to create endless styling options.

One of my favourite maxi dresses for pregnancy is MammaBelle’s bright colour block maxi in red and pink. The fabric drapes perfectly and the cut and colour of the dress are perfect for creating either a glammed up look or a look that’s more casual and carefree.

Accessories are the key when styling a maxi dress like this!

Below are some fun ways this dress can be styled to create a variety of looks for a variety of occasions. A totally glam must have for your pregnancy wardrobe.image

Maxi Dress High Glam

Look 1: Statement Necklace // Killer Clutch // Strappy Wedge

Look 2: Strappy Heel // Killer Clutch // Statement Bangles

Look 3: Strappy Sandals // Killer Clutch  // Statement Earrings

For a high glam look team with statement accessories like a statement necklace, statement earrings and a killer clutch. Strappy heels (if you dare to wear them), wedges or a strappy sandal are all perfect for finishing the look.

Casual + Carefree

Maxi Dress Casual & Carefree

Look 1: Denim Jacket // Metallic Slides // Tote

Look 2: Earrings // Statement Clutch //  Wedges

Look 3: Beach Tote // Oversized Hat // Statement Sandal

For a more casual and carefree look, layer with a cropped denim jacket or shirt or team with a fun hat and bag. Glammed up slides, cute statement sandals and comfy wedges are perfect for creating a carefree look while maintaining loads of style.
