Last night I was invited to the H&M Conscious Exclusive Collection 2016 Australia Preview in their Sydney showroom.
I’m a massive fan of Hennes and ever since the iconic brand opened it’s doors in Pitt St Mall I’ve been shopping there incessantly so I was excited to attend.
The H&M Conscious Collection 2016
The H&M Conscious Collection 2016 is made entirely from sustainable materials and effortlessly merges history with modernity, resulting in a beautiful, on-trend range of eco friendly clothing.
Launched to coincide with the opening of the exhibition Fashion Forward – 300 years of Fashion at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris to which it pays homage, the collection conveys artistry and sophisticated elegance.
The H&M design team delved into the museum’s collections of archival fashions in order to pick up key pieces from the last three centuries of haute couture.
The result is a contemporary and artistic collection that is truly unique. It features languid dresses, arty kaftans, painter blouses and sculpted skirts.
Dresses are turned into works of art with delicate prints, a long ball gown with a deep neckline features a marble draping print and a liquid dress is adorned with a slice of Botticelli’s Three Graces.
“Working with innovative sustainable materials and ornate embellishment, the collection is a layering of references, shapes and textures topped off by intensely decorative accessories and deco-inspired bijoux,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, Creative Advisor at H&M.
Sustainable materials include organic silk, hemp, recycled linen and Tencel® blends as well as new innovative materials such as beads made from recycled glass and Denimite − a material made out of recycled worn-out denim, which H&M is the first fashion company to use.
You don’t expect organic clothing to be as fashionable as this! H&M have really upped the ante!
Also new for the H&M Conscious Collection 2016 are three wedding dresses for the conscious bride featuring beautiful embellishment and dreamy lace and draped lines.
My personal favourite is the one above, no I’m not getting married again but I’m going to own it anyway!
Lovers of sustainable clothing rejoice! The H&M Conscious Collection 2016 launches in Australia on April 7th. Save the date! Prices range from $29.95 – $599.
