It’s the second edition of my What to Wear to the Races Style Series – catch Part 1 here.
Today I’m featuring another lace number – this one is by Debut and available from Debenhams.
What to Wear to the Races
I’ve never really worn much navy but it’s having a moment and I must say it’s growing on me. It’s flattering for daytime or nighttime and it’s less harsh than black.
It’s also timeless, classic and sophisticated. The perfect colour for Race Day!
This beautiful dress from Debut is effortlessly elegant. It features pretty stitched trims and a light pink underlay with a delicate navy lace finish.
I love the v neck detail and high waistband – it’s a flattering style and the hem length is perfect for racewear.
I chose a black Colette Hayman Large Bow and Net Fascinator and Zara heels to match the waistband with a silver Colette Hayman Carissa clutch to break things up.
Both Colette Hayman pieces are available in-store now.
This outfit is perfect for any of the Race Days apart from Derby Day of course!
Get in quick though! This dress is currently 50% off – $135 reduced from $270.
What to wear to the Races – tips for wearing lace:
- When choosing a colour don’t pick anything too garish
- If wearing sleeves opt for mid/full-length
- Stick to a knee length hem-lime
- No cleavage – keep it classy
- Wear minimal jewellery and let your lace do the talking
- Accessorize with an understated clutch/bag and classic pumps/heels
- Opt for high quality lace which is more suited to special ocassions
- Heavier lace is better for creating a defined silhouette
