I flew to London a few weeks ago with my two year old. It’s a trip I’ve done a few times with both children and I always freak out about it.
A friend of mine told me about Plane Pal and it is literally a game changer for long haul flights with kids!
Plane Pal is a cushion that allows you to use the space between your child’s seat and the seat in front.
Plane Pal was designed with children between 2-6 years old in mind, as they can utilise the product to its full potential and extend their legs or lay flat if they want to.
Travelling Long Haul with Kids Made Easier with Plane Pal
It’s super-easy to use too! It comes with a foot pump, you just attach it to the cushion and pump it up.
I must admit I was really worried about using the foot pump!
I thought the noise might upset some passengers but no-one noticed.
I also thought it would be too complicated to use but I managed to pump it up mid-flight in minutes!
There are full instructions on the website.
Excuse the spillage on her leggings – long flight!
Once inflated you simply place Plane Pal on the floor in-between your child’s seat and the seat in-front.
The size of the space will depend on the airline you have chosen to fly with.
You can choose to use Plane Pal right way up or upside down to ensure it fits perfectly.
Princess was a much happier traveller! She stretched out, lay down and made herself at home.
Because she was so comfortable it was easier for her to fall asleep which is obviously a blessing on long haul.
So for that alone I think it’s worth the investment!
Admittedly I made a rookie error and had the Plane Pal the wrong way around as you can see in the pics, I blame stress and fatigue.
I only used it on the last leg of the flight because on the first leg leg we had 4 seats to ourselves and Princess stretched herself out and fell asleep.
By the time I used it on the second leg I was exhausted but at least I know for next time and it still worked a treat, In fact I used it myself too.
I had a blood clot in my first pregnancy and it is good for me to put my legs up on a long haul flight so I took advantage of Plane Pal when Princess wasn’t using it.
See, it’s everyone’s friend!
When it came to deflation it was down in seconds. The whole experience was pain free!
I can’t imagine flying long haul without Plane Pal now, in fact I’ll be buying an additional pillow for my son too.
We’ve got another trip to London planned in August and it will make the flight a whole lot easier!
WILL PLANE PAL FIT ALL PLANE SEATS?
Plane Pal is designed to fit most economy airlines and most standard, bus and train seats. Plane Pal is designed so that it has 2 sizes. It can be used upright or upside down to fit the space between your child’s seat and the seat in front.
By inflating Plane Pal in position you can adjust the level of inflation to ensure a snug fit.
ARE PLANE PALS ALLOWED ON ALL AIRLINES?
The advice from most air lines is that as long as the aisle and area between your seat and the seat in front remains clear during take of and landing you are entitled to use an inflated cushion during the remainder of the flight. Singapore Airlines have expressly approved the use of inflatable pillows. We highly recommend contacting your airline carrier prior to purchasing to ensure they will allow its use. We flew Ethiad and they were fine with it.
Remember that Plane Pal is designed for all forms of travel including rail, buses and cars,
